("Star Wars," 2020)
Hello there! Happy Star Wars day! Finally on time for a celebration. Star Wars have been around for 44 years and since then, they’ve released multiple movies, spinoffs, an animated tv show, and a live-action tv show. To celebrate Star Wars day, here are some of the movies or tv shows that are definitely worth re-watching to celebrate May the 4th! The Siege of Mandalore Arc: Clone Wars Season 7 (Last 4 Episodes)
Ahsoka! You should have killed Maul when you got the chance
The Siege of Mandalore is the final few episodes of season 7. This is Clone Wars at its best, giving us a thriller story with amazing animation. We follow Ahsoka and Captain Rex as they travel to help the Mandalorians fight Maul and his army. We watch as Ahsoka and Maul duel, outmatched, Ahsoka barely surviving her encounter with Maul, only managing to defeat him by outsmarting him. Unfortunately for Ahsoka, that was the least of her worries, as right after her capture of Maul, Order 66 was executed forcing the clones to kill any and every Jedi. Ahsoka, with the help of Maul (after freeing him), barely escapes along with Captain Rex. This arc ends off somberly, with Ahsoka and Rex mourning the death of half the 501st, and the two close friends depart to hide from the empire’s wrath (Siege of Mandalore, n.d.). Overall, the Siege of Mandalore Arc is one of, if not the best, arc we’ve ever gotten in Clone Wars and is definitely worth rewatching.
Star Wars: the Original Trilogy (episodes 4, 5, and 6)
Wow, imagine having a crush on your own sister without realizing that she’s your sister
The original trilogy, released 44 years ago in 1977 is still one of the most iconic movies that has ever been released. With surprisingly good writing from George Lucas and a killer soundtrack from John Williams, these three movies gave birth to the greatest movie franchise ever. We follow a young Luke Skywalker after the eradication of the Jedi following the path of the hero’s journey to save the galaxy. With Luke being a descendant of the Chosen One Anakin Skywalker, he is one of the few people that has the force potential to rival Darth Vader himself. We watch as Luke travels across the galaxy to learn the ways of the force. Learning from two of the greatest Jedi masters Obi-Wan Kenobi, and grandmaster Yoda. Luke manages to defeat Vader and Darth Sidious in a final battle on the second Death Star (Original Trilogy, n.d.). Overall, while the original trilogy’s visual effects aren’t as good as the prequels or the sequels, it definitely still holds up as one of the best Star Wars trilogies that ever made.
Star Wars: the Prequels (episodes 1, 2, and 3)
I don’t like sand. It's all coarse, and rough, and irritating. And it gets everywhere.
Should’ve just thrown some sand at Vader when you had the high ground
In the prequels to the original trilogy, we follow Luke Skywalker’s father, the Chosen One Anakin Skywalker on his path to the dark side of the force. We watch Anakin and Obi-Wan’s brotherly relationship over the course of the 3 films. With Anakin believed to be the Chosen One of the force, the Jedi council decides to train him in the ways of the Jedi. What they didn’t expect is the fact that everything along their path was orchestrated by none other than Chancellor Palpatine, or as we know in the future Darth Sidious. We watch as Palpatine orchestrates the galaxy-wide war called the Clone Wars (episode two of the prequels leads into the Clone Wars TV show), manipulates Anakin to join the dark side with the stories of Darth Plagueis the Wise, and finally caused the eradication of the Jedi Order using their own clone army to completely wipe out almost every single Jedi. With most of the Jedi gone, Yoda and Obi-Wan decide to make a final stand, with both of them going to fight their greatest adversaries Sidious and Vadar respectively. With Yoda failing to kill Sidious and going into exile, Obi-Wan manages to defeat Vader with the power of the high ground and severely cripples him. Unfortunately, he doesn’t kill him, which leads to Vader being saved by Sidious and put into a mechanical body with the most terrifying breathing sound ever (Prequel Trilogy, n.d.). This trilogy ends with Padme giving birth to Luke and Leia, A New Hope to the galaxy.
Overall, you probably shouldn’t spend your entire day watching all three of these recommendations considering two of these are literally six movies but it’s still good to take some time off and spend watching these amazing films that the Star Wars franchise has brought to us. Until next time, and may the force be with you!
