Three governments and nine corporations have announced a coalition, called LEAF, to preserve tropical rainforests and offer protection for natural habitats. They have since raised at least $1 billion to achieve this feat, and three more giant corporations are to join LEAF in this mission. This includes Amazon, Nestle, and Unilever (Good News Network, 2021).

The Lowering Emissions by Accelerating Forest finance (LEAF) coalition aims to raise at least $1 billion in financing to protect tropical rainforests and create more sustainable developments through various projects. The LEAF coalition is expected to be the largest public-private effort to protect tropical rainforests (Leaf Coalition n.d.).

More participants are expected to join in the coming months of 2021, a massive game-changer as governments and corporations can collaborate and carry out changes at a quicker pace. The finances raised to ensure sustainability could channel tens of billions of dollars into protecting the trees needed to meet climate change goals and address our environmental problems.
