FORTNITE LIVE-ACTION MOVIE???

4 years after its release, Fortnite* continues to be one of the most played games today. Recently, rumours circulated on the internet about a live-action Fortnite movie have sent the Fortnite community into a frenzy, as fans are eager to know whether Epic Games has genuinely taken the initiative (Gendron, 2021).

The entire craze started when a parody account of DiscussingFilm posted some false information about a Fortnite live-action movie. DiscussingFilm is a very trusted and reliable source of information when it comes to anything about Film and TV, having gained over 280,000 followers on Twitter. However, the rumour of the Fortnite live-action movie was posted by a parody account named DiscussingFilms (Knight, 2021). DiscussingFilms most recent troll at the potential live-action movie took it to the next level, as they reported the live-action movie will feature 2 explicit scenes (Knight, 2021). Considering that Fortnite has always been aimed at a younger audience, fans were shocked to hear the rumour.

With that out of the way, is Fortnite really planning to create a live-action movie?

After the rumours on Twitter went viral and were noticed by millions of people, a few more trusted and reliable reports stated that Epic Games is genuinely planning to develop in the entertainment industry. According to a report from The Information, Epic Games is considering launching an entertainment division focused on scripted video programming (Knight, 2021). The Information is a reliable news source with over 68,000 followers on Twitter. So does this mean a Fortnite live-action movie is in the works???

Well, there is no compelling evidence from Epic Games that proves a Fortnite live-action movie is in the works. However, according to The Information’s report, sources tell them that Epic Games new entertainment division could develop numerous different projects, including a live-action movie based on Fortnite (Gendron, 2021).

At the moment, don’t get too invested in the concept of a Fortnite live-action movie as there is not enough evidence proving the making of it. Even if a Fortnite live-action movie is in the works, we cannot expect it to be released to the general public anytime soon.
